Its founder, Pavel Hendrych, an engineer by training and a passionate climber, began making his first harnesses at home, using parachute components and technical webbing. In 1992, he started producing climbing shoes under the Rock Pillars brand, and in 1998, the Ocun brand was born. It quickly became one of the leaders in the European climbing equipment market.

Today, Ocun designs and manufactures its gear in the Czech Republic, in the Bohemian Paradise region — a sandstone area offering climbing rich in tradition, emotion, and natural beauty.
