Within the crack glove category, the most important factors are not only the materials themselves, but how a given model actually performs on the hand while jamming. Thinner constructions usually offer better crack sensitivity, more precise feedback, and lower weight, which makes them attractive for climbers who want maximum control. More advanced or more protective models often provide stronger durability, better thumb coverage, or a more refined 3D fit, which can matter during harder crack climbing and extended use on rougher rock. Closure design also matters in practice: a low-profile Velcro system tucked under the rubber helps protect the strap from abrasion and reduces the risk of accidental opening during climbing.

• Hand fit: the gloves should sit close to the hand, stay stable while jamming, and avoid excess folds under the rubber surface.
• Rubber thickness and compound: thinner rubber generally improves sensitivity and precision, while a more protective layer can increase durability and coverage.
• Coverage area: it is worth checking how well the glove protects the back of the hand, the thumb, and the zones exposed to the most friction.

When choosing crack gloves, it is important to understand the tradeoff between sensitivity and protection.
