Beal Stinger 9.4 mm 60 m Dry Cover is a light single rope aimed at climbers who want smooth handling, easier clipping, and lower overall rope weight on harder routes. The 9.4 mm diameter places it firmly in the thin single-rope category, while UNICORE construction and Dry Cover treatment make it versatile enough for demanding sport climbing and more mountain-oriented use.
This is a rope for experienced users who want to move away from thicker all-round training ropes without giving up predictable handling. In use, the Stinger is designed to feel fluid through quickdraws and belay devices, helping reduce friction and rope drag while still offering solid durability for its class.
Where does the Stinger fit best?
It is especially well suited to harder sport climbing, redpoint attempts, and routes where quick clipping and low rope drag make a real difference. It also makes sense for climbers who want one thin rope that still has enough all-round capability for more varied terrain. As with most ropes in this diameter range, it is best matched with climbers who already know how to handle thinner ropes confidently.
Dry Cover
A process whereby every individual sheath strand receives a chemical treatment before the rope is manufactured. The treatment is hydrophobic, increases abrasion resistance and is polymerised at high temperatures. The polymerisation process together with every strand being coated individually increases the life of the treatment. This treatment makes ropes more resistant against abrasion, repeated falls, heat, dust, moisture and vastly increases their durability.
